Do you enjoy hunting for treasure?

One way to have an earth friendly wedding is to find a pre-owned dress that you love! You can make it as easy or difficult as you would like. On one end you have the long search, going to consignment stores, thrift shops and the like.

Here in the Sacramento area, I enjoy thrift shopping and one of my favorite places to shop is WEAVE Thrift on Arden Way https://www.weaveinc.org/ . I always head to the back where they have gowns and nine times out of ten, they have wedding dresses. You can even try your local Goodwill shop for a bargain. You will end up spending money on the alterations but if you have a good tailor shop near you, they will make it fit like a dream!

If you are looking for a quicker option, consider a vintage or used shop that specializes in wedding gowns. There are many online thrift shops as well, for example. ThredUp, Poshmark and eBay all have wedding dresses. As you look, you may also find other gowns for the wedding - mother of the bride/groom, wedding party, etc.

I can’t forget those of you who will wear suits! This one is a little easier as you can rent suits rather than buy new ones. So many, including Generation Tux https://generationtux.com/ and TheLuxeLend https://theluxelend.com/ , not only have rental options for men, but they also custom fit AFAB (assigned female at birth) and nonbinary people.

Good luck with your search and don’t forget to reach out if you have any questions or if I forgot something!
